I’m taking a break tonight after finishing Season 3 last evening to process everything, but especially Buffy/Angel, ‘cause after having a rough start, I was SOOOO on board with those two.

I know I watched these shows in reverse, but Buffy is actually reminding me a lot of John Connor in TSCC, and Buffy/Angel is echoing John/Cameron. These poor kids who are picked out by ~destiny~ to be ~chosen ones~, gang-pressed into lives of violence and loneliness. Buffy has to understand and study and spend all her free time fighting vampires, so when she meets one with a soul (one who is not even just neutral towards her, but disposed to help)… She’s going to be drawn to that. Not only does she not have to pretend in front of Angel, but he’s not a civilian, another fragile human that she’ll have to worry about constantly.

John and Buffy are so anxious, so eager to find companionship and potential good in those who should be their enemies… It breaks my heart and makes me adore them. They have to constantly listen to their loved ones telling them how screwed up they are, how they are endangering everyone else because of their relationships, and how wrong it all is. Ugh, my babies. So yeah, there are obviously no happy endings to be had here, but what a compelling pair. Perfectly teenager-y and moving and fun and deep all at once.

Also, we deserve a sequel to Buffy so much. It's totally set up to be a long-running franchise a la Star Trek or Doctor Who. One slayer dies, another replaces her. My ideal sequel would take place today, have a woc slayer, a lady watcher, and... idk what else yet. Where would it be set? Any cameos from original cast? Can we scream at the watcher guild or whatever the fuck for being English and out of touch and gross? Can we be a road show? IDK yet.
