AtLA 3x04 "Sokka's Master"

This episode was so brilliant. Last week's was total filler, and this week seems like plain-old filler, but I have this feeling that it's actually chock-full of important stuff.

OK, so this episode was fantastically written, but there are a few issues. But the fact that I don't care about them proves how brilliant it is. I looked it up, and a meteorite that large would weigh around 15 tons, and it would cause a hell of a lot more damage than what the show depicts. Also, Sokka was all ZOMG, TEH SKEDULE! last episode, and now he's just chilling for a couple days to learn to sword-fight? Come on, continuity plz. But other than that, I loved the entire thing, so, on with the good stuff!

• "I miss the love." lol
• Oh Aang, so inexperienced. Never insult a girl's hair.
• Sokka is freaking adorable when he's insecure. Jack De Sena did a really nice job in this ep.
• "SHOPPING!" XD
• Aang in the armor is ridiculous
• omg, Iroh works in an arms shop?! character-design should... broaden its horizons a bit.
• A "how ___ is it?" joke? awkward...
• I can't get over how utterly B.A. Iroh is.
• I love that they hold their sleeves when they do caligraphy. XD
• truly gorgeous animation in this ep, especially with the backgrounds and the clothing
• "You added a rainbow." "Is that okay?" A flamboyant love for shopping. "You mess things up in a very special way." If they hadn't already paired Sokka with Yue and Suki, I would suspect they were hinting at something in a rather ridiculous way.
• "SOKKA'S COMING!" "I don't know, they missed you or something. I didn't care. *blush*" Aww, Toph. If you weren't only 12, I'd totally have your back in this.
• And may I just say that the HP fandom, for all its faults, was way better at naming ships than the ATLA fandom is. Only one of the big, popular ships was a smushed name, and guess what, it actually made a real word: HMS Harmony for Harry/Hermione. Harry/Ginny was the HMS Orange Crush, and if you were a Ron/Hermione shipper, all you said was "I believe in trees," because it was felt that the relationship was as plain to see as trees. Abbreviations were H/G, R/Hr, and H/D. ATLA has all this nonsense about Kataang and Zutara and Tokka and Ty Lokka and Taang and Maiko and Pakkana and ugh, just make it stop.
• "Say something funny!" "Funny how?" "HAHAHAH!" XD
• fans need to start doing Chuck Norris jokes with Iroh
• a sword out of a meteorite? it's so preposterous that it has to be important later on! it's going to be like how it was key that Harry Potter's wand was phoenix feather and all that jazz. At least the show is recognizing that celestial objects are metal, not fire. there may be hope for the comet plot after all!!!
• omg, I did a @_@ when Sokka admitted to being water tribe! moron.
• Iroh got *that* ripped in two days? I suspect they're messing with time a bit.
• the master knew Aang was the Avatar? "I've been around a while"? You pick things up"? something's fishy.
• Sokka's going to take Zuko's alias???
• A white lotus tile!!! The door had a lotus design!!! OMG, the Society! It must be a resistance within the Fire Nation! "Those who cling to the old ways"... They're going to help!!!
• OK, so Toph can bend metals that don't come from Earth, and now she has a nice big piece of it that she can just carry around with her. Going to be important, mark my words. (Oh, and she totally bends it into the Nickelodeon logo for a sec, lol.)
• very quality episode.
