AtLA 3x06 "The Avatar and the Firelord"

A:tLA on Friday was flipping fantastic. Thoughts about episode 306:

• Okay, Roku and Sozin are so so SO very Dumbledore/Grindelwald. Shirtless sparring sessions, private moments in bedrooms, gifts exchanged, playful teasing, but LOOK, THEY BOTH GOT MARRIED! To women we just randomly introduced in the last five minutes of the episode! Totally straight! JUST friends! XD
• PS, since Avatar episodes take nine to ten months, this was totally written pre-DH and wayyyyy pre-JKR's comments last week. Bryan and Mike are so psychic.
• Who really sent the scroll to Zuko? Iroh is badass, but I don't think he's badass enough to just walk in and out of jail whenever he wants.
• "Make sure the court painter gets your good side." Bwahaha, double meaning ftw.
• Zuko's Robe of Lurking is getting old.
• katara/aang hints up the whoa
• wow, way to be upstaged on your birthday. "Happy birthday, Sozin. Have a great day. Happy birthday, Roku. You're the Avatar."
• what... the frak... was with that spirit world and bathrooms gag?? most awkward thing ever on the show.
• Omg, wut about teh skedool??? Seriously, Sokka's schedule is officially shot to hell. He just needed an excuse to yell at Katara in 303.
• that's all the big, dramatic clip from the trailer is? lame
• I just don't understand why the avatar can fall in love and get married if aang had to let katara go to control the avatar state. Guru Pathik doesn't know what the frak he's talking about.
• omg the sky in the background of the wedding scene! <3
• the last we saw of the Hairpiece of Royal Homoeroticism, it was in Roku's house, which got covered in ash. How did Iroh get it??
• Ursa is so totally still alive. *gasp* The Runaway! I BET!
• Roku, your wife and all the villagers were safe in the boats. Screw the damn volcano you moron!
• Okay, if Sozin wiped out the Avatar as a kid, it just would have been re-born into the Water Tribe...
• Iroh finally speaks! I miss Mako... =[ It's not the same without him.
• OH SNAP! ZUKO IS DESCENDED FROM ROKU AND SOZIN! HE'S THE KEY TO EVERYTHIIIIIIING!
• Omg, the Fire Nation is totally going to get the redemption Slytherin never did. Take that, JKR!!!
• "Oh Sokka, just hold hands!" I love the traditional sappy ending. <3
• This ep was mildly info-dump, and a bit lacking in subtlety, but I can't blame the creators for the half-hour time constraint. Although I don't see why they couldn't have done away with The Painted Lady and made this a two-parter. And besides, sometimes I forget the show's target audience is 6-year-olds. >.<
